Are Painful Bruise Around Ankle And Calf Symptoms Of DVT?

I kickbox and kicked someone. I now have a huge bruise on my shin with pain all throughout my lower leg (around my ankle and around my calf) and occassionally a shooting pain up my back outer thigh - very minor. I have pooling around the inside of my ankle and a reddened bruise wrapping from mid anterior ankle to the outer aspect of my ankle. I have been taking ibuprofen, icing, and heating it. Am I at risk for a DVT? That s my biggest concern. I m 32 years old, weight lift, technically I m overweight by 10 lbs, fairly healthy. But my calf region hurts enough to want to seek out additional information.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

DVT would be likely if you are immobilized because of the pain or another cause.
If you have other risk factors as well- eg clotting disorder

If you are still mobile then your risk is low. The swelling, discoloration and pain are likely due to the trauma for the kick.

Continue the ibuprofen, rest and heat therapy.
If there is no improvement then you may need to see your doctor for assessment.

I hope this helps
