Are Painful Ear, Jaw And Head Post A Hit On Chin A Cause For Concern?
Hi,
I got hit in the chin/head while working out by a ball and now my ear hurts when I sneeze, or when I move my head certain ways. I am also getting headaches. Should I be concerned about the ear pain and also the pain in my jaw when I chew and open my mouth wide
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms it seems like that there have been injury to the Jaw joint also known as TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT secondary to the hit and pain in ear and jaw when opening the mouth wife is due to it... You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and get a full mouth x Ray known as ORTHOPANTOMOGRAM (OPG) done so as to rule out for displaced articular disc ( a soft cushion present between bony ends of joint) or mandibular condyle or hairline fracture in the jaw bone so that treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now to relieve pain you can take Anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxasone.. Do warm compresses.. Take a soft diet..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
