Are Pancreatic Attack And Chronic Pancreatitis Possible At The Same Time?

I have had Roux -N- wye surgery in 2013 a year later I had my gallbladder removed . This week I was diagnosed with Chronic Pancreatitis, I have a couple of questions 1) is it possible to have an acute pancreatic attack and have Chronic Pancreatitis or is it one or the other? 2) How will being a Roux -N-wye patient affect my medical treatment?

Hello,
Acute exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis is possible. The underlying cause is same but it is an acute exacerbation like acute worsening of asthma.
In most cases it can be managed conservatively and surgical correction may not be required. Your previous surgery will not have any role in the treatment.
Thanks
