Are Partially Working Heart And Fluid Discharge From Legs A Cause For Concern?
My mother-in-law has a heart that is only working at 20-25%. Her legs are discharging fluids at a high rate (if she stands still a puddle will form). I realize that her time is near, I m just wondering from your experience, what amount of time do you think
The decreased function of the heart would cause a back of fluids in the legs, the abdomen and also the lungs.
At a function of 20 to 25%, she would likely be classified with severe heart failure or NYHA stage 4. This is associated with mortality of 50%, meaning one out of two persons at this stage do not survive for a long period of time.
The exact time varies and cannot be accurately predicted by in many may be less than 1 to 2 years.
I hope this helps and wish you and your family the best
