Are Rashes On The Site Of Shingles Shot Contagious?

I got,the shingles, vaccine 7 days ago and have a rash at the site which is about 2 inches in diameter. I know this is a side effect and I know how to treat it. My question is that my 5 month old grandson is coming to visit this weekend on Friday which would be day 10 after the vaccine. Am I contagious to him?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If a person is exposed to a rash related to shingles, then chicken pox transmission can occur.
If he is not exposed to the area or any other rash then transmission cannot occur.

This means that if you appropriately cover the area, it should be fine.

I hope this helps
