Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have been facing recurring urinal infections for last 6 to 7 years. It gets treated every time, and then its off for an year. And again its the same issue. My urine report always shows up residual urine in bladder, which is causing infection. Can t there be a permanent remedy, so that it never recurrs.
I think you should do an uro-culture to check for bacteria which is causing the infection and the antibiogram will show which antibiotic needs to be used. Also you should do an ultrasound to check for possible anatomical reasons which can contribute to re-occurrence of UTI. Having a treatment for 7 days is necessary also you may continue low dose antibiotics such Nitrofurantoine for longer.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you all the best.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
