Are Recurring Abdominal Pain And Bloating Suggestive Of Viral Infection?

I am experiencing some abdominal pain and bloating, somewhat severe at times that I thought was a side effect of a stomach virus. However, the pain has now radiated to the small of my back on the right side. Should I be concerned? I have no other underlying health conditions. I am a 44 year old female that is at ideal body weight, do not smoke, drink socially, and exercise regularly.

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Abdominal pains and bloating may be caused by many medical conditions including digestive viral, bacterial and parasitic infections.Your description of symptoms is not very clear and identifying the exact cause of your problem may not be possible.I will rather say it should not be neglected.See the Doctor for examination and work-ups like stool exam/culture.In the mean time, you may try the following:
-Take an anti-spasmodic like spasfon if pain serious
-Eat in small quantities with fiber
-Take enough fluids and fruits like soft pawpaw to facilitate transit and avoid fruits like bananas
-Avoid soft drinks that may produce much gas
Your Doctor will help you with an etiologic treatment if any cause identified.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
