Are Recurring Rashes On Elbows And Chin Suggestive Of Hives?

I have recently being breaking out into rashes on the inside of my elbows on both arms, with my left arm being the worst. The rash comes and goes, sometimes lasting for 15 minutes to an hour. Sometimes, when I break out into the rash on my elbows, my chin will also break out into a similar rash. After one of the break outs, I noticed there was a small brown bump on the inside of my left elbow that stays even after the rash is gone. I haven t changed my diet or soap etc. I have seasonal allergies, but other than that I haven t had an allergic reactions before. Does this sound like hives?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related contact dermatitis. I suggest using antihistamines such as Cetirizine to relieve the symptoms. I also use steroid cream for local application.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
