Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain first thing that I would like to tell you is that the symptoms of
herpes that is a viral infection does not start occurring immediately after exposure to the virus via an infected individual as it has an
incubation period between 2 days to 12 days..
So as of now it does not seems to be cold sores..
The other thing that I would like to tell you is that forstly it should also be confirmed that your partner has herpes infection or not and then only it can be thought off.
As of now the
redness and chapping of lips can be due to excessive sucking and biting over lips leading to inflammation and dryness..
It can also be due to
allergic reaction to any skin or lip cosmetic that your partner might have applied or can be bacterial infection..
i would suggest you to continue applying Petroleum jelly or chapstick over it..
Do cool compresses..
Apply antiseptic ointment over it.
In case if symptoms does not improve
consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards,
Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
