Are Redness And Dryness On Lips The Symptoms Of Herpes?

I went down on my boyfriend and he also went down on me. Then we made out shortly multiple times after. Less than an hour later my lips were tingly and a few hours later I went home and noticed red marks on my lips. I washed my mouth but my lips were very dry. the next day those red marks were gone but I had a weird feeling about it. I ve been applying chapstick to my lips every few hours and they re no longer as chapped, yet it s been 3 days and I have what seems to be a cold sore. Is this herpes? Will it get worse? How can I prevent it from getting worse?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain first thing that I would like to tell you is that the symptoms of herpes that is a viral infection does not start occurring immediately after exposure to the virus via an infected individual as it has an incubation period between 2 days to 12 days..
So as of now it does not seems to be cold sores..
The other thing that I would like to tell you is that forstly it should also be confirmed that your partner has herpes infection or not and then only it can be thought off.
As of now the redness and chapping of lips can be due to excessive sucking and biting over lips leading to inflammation and dryness..
It can also be due to allergic reaction to any skin or lip cosmetic that your partner might have applied or can be bacterial infection..
i would suggest you to continue applying Petroleum jelly or chapstick over it..
Do cool compresses..
Apply antiseptic ointment over it.
In case if symptoms does not improve consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated..
