Are Repeated Epidural Injections Required For Grade 1 Spondylolisthesis?

I have had a cortesone and an epidural injection suffering from grade 1 spondeylethis (excuse spelling) L4/5 and prolapse disc. I have meet with a spinal surgeon who said I have significant nerve compression? The registra mentioned that other people have had up to 20! epidurals!! I am confused by the comment. Is he suggesting that I go away and have repeated injections? which I don't want to have that many and am confused as I need to think long term and how my quality of life is getting worse. Any advice would be most appreciated
