Are Severe Abdominal Cramps, Nausea And Pelvic Pain Signs Of Pregnancy?

Hello. I had strong cramping over the weekend. More than the usual menstrual cycle cramps, so I decided to take a pregnancy test on Monday and it was positive. I still continue to have the cramps but they now also come with brown discharge, slight nausea, and a sharp right pelvic pain that comes and goes. Is this normal?

Hello,

You will need to have a BHCG blood test and also a transvaginal ultrasound to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. If the doctor is able to identify an intrauterine pregnancy then there is nothing to worry.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
