Are Skin Breakouts On Face Normal Before The Onset Of Flu?

Hello doctor, I ve recently fallen in with the flu. Days before I realised I caught the flu, my skin started to break out, starting from my nose and chin area. I began to get a sore throat and once I realise that I had caught the flu I started to break out in other areas around my face, including the sides of my face and particularly more severely near and in my eyebrows. I want to ask whether my case of break outs has anything to do with the fact that I had caught the flu, or the change in weather condition (as it has been turning colder lately and I ve also experienced dryness with my face) ?? I don t think its to do with my diet since I haven t been eating any junk food (in fact I ve lost my appetite due to the flu) please help ! What should I do to reduce and calm my acne?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Skin break out on nose and chin region can be due to folliculitis or acne.
Accompanying sore throat appears to be bacterial in origin.
Flu is viral in origin.
The causative agent for skin break out, sore throat and flu are different.
Symptomatic treatment has to be taken for all the conditions.
Saline gargles and antibiotic for sore throat.
Antimicrobial ointment for skin break out (clindamtcin + peroxide).
Paracetamol for flu accompanied by rest and plenty of fluids and good nutrition.
You can consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and prescription of drugs.

Thanks and take care
