Are Sore Throat And White Spots On Tonsils Symptoms Of STD?
Hello, About 1.5 years ago i had a girl give me oral sex, (I am a male). And about 8 months ago, i had protected physical sex. Those are my only sexual encounters. Last night My girlfriend gave oral sex and the next day, a little less than 24 hours she Told me she had sore throat, white spots on tonsils, and heard to swallow. For the last two years i havent had any symptoms or signs of an std. But what are the odds that i have a symptomless std for two whole years? What are the odds she caught a throat infection from my body wash and/or bacteria infections instead of std? I didnt ejaculate at all. Also if it was an std, would it really take only a little less than 24 hours to show sypmtoms!?
Hi, Welcome to HCM. Two STDs can cause throat infection. 1. Gonorrhea 2. Chlamydia Gonorrhea can not remain without symptoms as it usually has florid manifestations. Chlamydia would take 3 weeks to manifest (incubation period is 3-4 weeks). So your girl friend's symptoms are unlikely to be due to STD cause. As you pointed out that there are possibilities to have throat infection through oral sex with bacteria and virus other than STD causing organisms like strepto-coccal sore throat. Ask her to consult an ENT specialist , he/she will clear the infection with appropriate drugs. Dr S.Murugan
