Are Sores Around My Thigh And Pelvic Area A Sign Of An STD?

I m a 29-year-old woman. In the past two years I ve only had sex with three people, all of them women. About a month and a while ago I started seeing a woman monogamously. A couple of days ago, I noticed these sores around my thighs and pelvic area. None inside the vagina. They hurt a bit, have no fluid and look like burns. At first, I thought they were friction sores because my partner and I have been scissoring a lot but now I m not sure. As for symptoms, noe besides being uncomfortable and them hurting (like a friction burn) when I walk since it s right where my leg meets my pelvic area. I got tested for everything, including STDs back in May and came out clean. Since then, I only had sex with my current partner and with one other woman (but I didn t scissor with her nor did engage in oral sex.)

Hello,

You have sores around the thighs and pelvic area. They hurt you when walking. Sores around the thighs and pelvic area may be due to STIs since you have been scissoring with your partner and if your partner was infected. STIs that commonly present as sores are herpes, genital warts, syphilis, etc. other STIs are chlamydia and gonorrhea.

Take care of your hygiene and wash your private area with medicated soap. Since it is hurting while walking, stay at rest. Avoid walking for a couple of days, or else the friction rub can trigger the symptoms. You are suggested to apply ointment Zovirax (Acyclovir) on the sores and the area affected for relief. You can take acetaminophen to help reduce pain and inflammation.

Get clinically examined by a GP, get repeat tests done to rule out or detect STIs. If STI is detected you will be treated with a course of antibiotics or antivirals to keep the symptoms under control. Avoid any type of sexual activity for the time period you are being treated. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

HIV AIDS Specialist Dr. Sankaranantham Murugan's  Response
Hi,

As per your history, the sores are likely to be nonvenereal sores due to some bacterial infection due to skin to skin contact. At the same time, as it remains painless and no other symptoms like itching and burning, it is better to repeat once again the tests for STIs.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
