Are Stiff Neck, Sore Legs And Low Grade Fever Suggestive Of Meningitis?

My son has been complaining of a stiff neck all day. He has been lethargic and has vomited once this evening. temp 99.3. He was also complaining about the backs of his legs being sore the past few days. do I need to take him in for possible meningitis?

Hello,

Stiff neck is an ominous sign and can be a feature of meningitis,

Consult a physician at the earliest and start antibiotics (meningitis prophylaxis) at the earliest.

If symptoms persist a spinal tap is required to confirm the diagnosis.
