Are The Acne Caused Due To Allergy From My Husband's Sperm?

Hi...I am 28 years old.I have many acnes on my forehead especially on the hairline area since I'm married. Before married,I have 1 or 2 acnes on my face only prior to my menstrual period. But now, the acnes are always there. I have food, dust and mite allergy. Are the acnes kind of allergy maybe to my husband's sperm?

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Acne is not due to allergy to sperm or to something else.
Genetic predisposition, stress, oily / greasy cosmetics, oily make up, diet, hot and humid weather etc may be some of the factors that may be responsible in your case.
Acne is a condition of the pilosebaceous glands & is a result of an interplay of factors like hormones, sticky epidermal cells leading to comedogenesis, a bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes and inflammation.
I usually suggest topical treatment like either clindamycin gel or benzoyl peroxide gel for active acne on face along with a topical retinoid like adapalene gel once daily at night to the whole affected area.
Adapalene is comedolytic and therefore would prevent new acne apart from resolving existing ones.
Clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide are antibacterial and are useful for inflammatory acne.
Oral antibiotics may also be started depending on the severity of acne and if your acne is inflammatory i.e red, painful Or pus filled.
I suggest you to visit a dermatologist in your region for the needful. Your dermatologist will assess the severity of your acne and advice accordingly.

Hi,

You said that you suffer from acne and the lesions occur off and on. And that occurs more after menses. I can understand your concern for acne. You may be knowing that acne is a recurring disease. So, have treatment for long time with patience.

Acne is a multifactorial inflammatory disease of pilosebaceous units in skin. It is not allergy to any factor. Your husband's segment is not responsible for acne.

Acne may be precipitated or exacerbated by many factors. There may be genetic influence.

You have to reduce anxiety related to acne. Have positive attitude.

Few episodes of acne lesions may be there even during treatment. You may continue treatment for few months.

I would like to suggest following line of treatment...

- antibiotics like minocycline, avoid in pregnacy or azithromycine in proper dose
- isotretinoin in low dose, avoid in pregnancy.
- zinc sulfate tab
- vitamin C
- clindamycine, adapalene or benzoyl peroxide gel..apply on lesions at night
- cleansing the face with antiseptic facewash

Avoid all factors that might exacerbate acne.

Have patience for the good result.

Thanks.
