Are The Emotions Related To Alchoholism?

My friend who is a recovering alcoholic says because I am a very emotional person that I have issues from being married to an alcoholic I cry when talking about things that happened in the past. I have been an emotional person all my life I react to so things by crying. He thinks I need a sponser in alanon. I think some people are just more emotional than others

Hi,

Yes, some people are more emotional than others. But whether you are emotional or not should not have a bearing on whether you join Al Anon or not. It is simply an organization where friends and family members of alcoholics meet each other and share their experiences. You learn from others and others learn from you. In my opinion, go to a few of their meetings with an open mind and see if you like being there or not. Joining them does not mean that there is something wrong with you.
