Are The Tiny Red Bumps Near My Urethra A Recurrence Of HPV?
Hello. About 4 years ago I had what appeared to be flat raised skin warts, they were quite small, off the base of my penis. 4 years later, I m noticing these tiny red bumps around my urethra. When erect the seem to disappear... Is this my HPV coming back?
Avoid scratching or applying OTC creams meant for common warts as they may irritate penile skin. They are less likely to be HPV warts if he bumps have not grown, spread, or turned into clusters in 4 years. You have not mentioned any pain when urinating, you have also not mentioned any discharge or burning so it may be indictive of PPP, Fordyce spots, then infection.
However, you are advised to take care of your hygiene. Keep your private area dry and clean. Since you have a history of HPV, it’s best to confirm. You are advised to get clinically examined by a Urologist or a dermatologist. You will be examined with a dermatoscope. You also require doing a swab test to confirm if HPV is active.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr Nupur K., General & Family Physician
