Are There Any Correlation Between Grave S Disease And Rheumatoid Arthritis?

Hi doctor, I have all the pieces to my health puzzle. However, non of my doctors seem to want to take the time to listen. I ve been sick for a very long time, at least ten years. So far, I ve bee diagnosed with Grave s disease(D 2008),Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis(D 2004) mild RA and Sjorgrens syndrome( D 2006). I ve been blind in my left eye since 1995. All of these ailment have to be related and as I said, none of my doctors have linked these things together, just too busy I suppose. Can you help?

Hi,

Noted the history about having Grave's disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Glomerulosclerosis, Sjogren's Syndrome, blindness left eye for a long time and wants to know if correlated.
All the syndromes are related to your immunity, some of them due to autoimmune problems.
Autoimmune means the body's own mechanisms stop recognizing the
own tissues and thus cause reaction like in Sjogrens and ER.
Hence you have to consult a Rheumatologist and discuss all the findings, reports, medications you are taking and the output about control.
None of these are completely curable at the moment hence good control over the diseases and syndromes are needed.
At the same time you have to work on improving your immunity by exercises, control of stress and anxiety, proper diet and so on.
Treatment of individual syndromes is also specific hence you may needs a Specialist's opinion about some of these.
Take care, your problems can be controlled well to have a better life.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
