Are There Any Effects Of Rope Skipping On Knees?

Hello Doctor... I am 51 yrs old man. Taking BP tablets for the last 8 years . No physical complaints. Regularly I used to rope skipping for 20 yrs .However stopped it due to the fact that i got updates that it would harm my knees in the longer run. Shall i continue rope skipping atleast for 10 minutes to keep fit ? Pl advice

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
As age advances, there will be some wear and tear changes in the cartilages of the knees. You may land up in 'osteoarthritis'. Hence it is better that you don't strain your joints with excess of exercise.
Skipping is a healthy exercise, but since it involves jumping, it has a direct impact on knees. Hence, you can do it for a limited time of 10 minutes. Following skipping, it is advisable for you to do knee relaxation exercises to keep your joint healthy.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
Wish you good health.
