Are There Any Possible Complications In The Scars Without TB Infection?

I had tb when i was very small. But I am having problem now. I have applied for a student visa and they are not granting me visa without medical clearance. They have kept me in 3months observation. My sputum reports of 2months are negetive. I now have to wait for a month for re-xray. and if they find increment in the scars as compared to the scars in my previous xray, they will reject my visa. is there any possibility of increment in the scars without any tb infections? and will i be affected if i am close to a person who too had tb and is now at a normal state. Thankyou very much

Hello,

Post TB infection, scar can persist but they don't increase in the absence of active infection. Since your sputum report is negative, there is no reason to worry. Just relax. There is no question of infection from an old case of TB too.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
