Are There Any Side Effects Of Taking Ciprofloxacin For UTI?

I have been diagnosed with a urinary track infection after having had it a few months ago. My doctor has prescribed ciprofloxacin this time. In reading the side effects, I find that one precaution is that I could have symptoms of pain, burning, tingling, numbness or weakness. There could be damage to the nerves in arms, hands, legs or feet. My question is: If I have been diagnosed with some peripheral neuropathy maybe 8 or 9 years ago, does that mean this prescription could do some damage and worsen that condition permanently? I have given the question to my doctor, but only as a message on her phone, plus I put it on the patient portal for doctor, but it is after hours and I probably won t hear until tomorrow. I already took one pill.

I really appreciate your concern, if this is the urinary tract infection the quinolone antibiotic (Ciprofloxacin ) is the best drug and it is being given in short period of time and this may not cause any side effects at all, second option is get done the urine culture sensitivity test, it will show all the sensitive antibiotic (If this developed some organism) hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
