Are There Any Tests To Detect Elevation In Liver Enzymes?

I am very concerned about taking a drug with liver side effects. Just lost my wife last year of liver damage caused by such a drug. Regular blood test did not show high liver enzymes until it was too late. Can we now be sure to catch any such problem with regular blood test?

Understanding your concern.

Very sorry to read about your wife. as per your query you are worried about liver side effects of drug which you are taking. well first of all i need to know which drug you are taking and dosage for that as well. Rest you can go for specific liver tests after every 3 months to access liver function of your body.

Liver function tests such as SGOPT, SGPT, bilirubin will give you idea about your liver functioning. if there is elevation of these enzymes means susceptibility of jaundice, hepatitis and other liver anomaly is there.

Need not to panic and keep going for your tests on regular basis to be on safer side.
