Are There Chances Of Pregnancy After Taking Misoprostol Pills After Unprotected Sex?

HELLO, I HAD A MEDICAL ABORTION ON 12-26-2014 IN THE US. MY FOLLOW UP WAS 1-10-14 AND I WAS STILL BLEEDING WITH MINOR SMALL CLOTS AT THE TIME SO THE DR. GAVE ME 4 ADDITIONAL MISOPROSTOL PILLS. I WAS RAPED ON 1-13-14 WITHOUT PROTECTION. ON 1-17-14 I TOOK THE 4 MISOPROSTOL PILLS. TODAY 1-30-14, I NOTICED A SMALL AMOUNT OF BRIGHT RED SPOTTING AND SOME LIGHT CRAMPING. PLEASE TELL ME THE WHAT THE CHANCES ARE THAT I AM NOW PREGNANT AGAIN? I HAVE NOT YET DONE ANOTHER PREGNANCY TEST. PLEASE HELP. THANK YOU DR.

Hello,
It is unlikely that you could be pregnant with the medication you have been on. Under the present circumstances, the only way to get a clarity on the issue is to go for a trans-vaginal sonogram under the guidance of a specialist and get a serum beta-hCG titre done. The hormone levels should usually decline by now, had your abortion been successful. After a clinical evaluation and correlation, you may arrive at the need further treatment. Bleeding and cramping are side effects of the medication as it induces uterine contractions. Hope this helps.
