Are These Medications For Personality And Bipolar Disorders?

HI! I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER AND BI-POLAR DISORDER AND AM REVIEWING THE MEDS I AM TAKING FOR IT WHICH ARE TOPAMAX 75MG/DAY, CIPROLEX 20MG/DAY & LAMOTRIGINE 50MG/DAY. 2 OF THOSE, I LOOKED UP ARE TO TREAT EPILEPSY OR MIGRAINES??

Hello,

Borderline Personality disorder has frequent episodes of depression and anger outburst. Simultaneously you have bipolar disorder.
So you need to be treated with anti depressant, mood stabilizer, and medicines to control anger.
Cipralex(Escitalopram) is an antidepressant medicine, lamotrigine is a mood stabilizer and topamax is generally given for impulse control.
In epilepsy topamax(topiramate) and lamotrigine used while in migraine topamax is used.
One medicine can be used for various indication in medical field, so it is not like that medicines given to you are not for your disorder.
For your information,In Borderline personality Disorder a psychotherapy called Dialectical Behavior Therapy is useful
Just relax, your doctor is on right way.
