My friend Josh is a 23 year old alcoholic. He has been in the hospital for a month. He ia guandice, his belly is swollen, and now he is bleeding internally. They are now giving him morphine and saying that he won't make it through the night. Is this true? Is there any hope? How long do you think he has?

hi dear,
as your friend is alcoholic and history of jaundice , abdominal distention, bleeding internally and right now on morphine means he might have alcoholic liver disease and in severe form.
this condition is progressive and might take long time to complete recover and for that also he has to quit alcohol totally. and do as advise by your doctor.
its condition is quit critical and hope for the best.
if you tell me USG abdomen finding and level of consciousness further information i may give you about his condition.
Thank you.
