Are Traces Of Urobilonogen In Urine During Pregnancy A Cause For Concern?

38 weeks pregnant. At the doctors today there were traces of urobilinogen in my urine. The nurse and doctor didn t know what it was so said not to worry about it. I do :) Other pregnancy symptoms I have at the moment include sore jaw for a few weeks, cramps/pinching in inner thigh/pelvis area and sore stiff finger knuckles.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

Having traces of urobilinogen in your urine while being pregnant might be due to possible liver problems that should be further evaluated by blood liver function tests. Hemolysis is also to be confirmed by further lab tests.

However, I should have your urine analysis report to analyze the figures myself as I need to have a look at the reference range your lab is using.

All the best!
