Are Transdermal NSAIDs Advisable For A Person With Gastrointestinal Bleeding?

Good afternoon, and thank you for being there on a holiday week-end. Transdermal NSAIDs or TNS units OTC; are they systemically absorbed? Can someone with a history of GI bleed months ago use them? Currently is trying to get by with APAP and occasional opiod. Was on celecoxib prior to that.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think the systemic side effects of transdermal NSAID are very limited due to poor systemically absorption of topically applied NSAID drugs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
