Are Welts Normal After Being Bitten By Chiggers?

I was bit by chiggers and believed there may be some that didn’t bite and are alive in my car that I live in so I went to the mountains over night and it got down to 20 degrees are they dead I left the windows down too. I have had a sore throat since then is there anything I should be worried about. And I have developed new welts several days after since seeing the first welts is that normal . And if I do continue to get a few bites is really any harm that can come to me assuming I don’t get an infection from scratching
