Arm, Chest And Hand Swollen, Breathing Deeply Difficult, May Be Bitten By A Spider. How Long Will It Last ?

My husband was bitten by what the doctor thinks was a spider, last Sunday ... his arm , chest, hand , all were swollen and breathing deeply was difficult. A trip to emerg and two trips to the doctor last week and told to just wait. Now there is a definite blue / purple line working it s way down from his shoulder to middle of bicep ... the arm and hand are still very, very swollen. It is a week later to the day. How long should this last? Should we be going back to emerg?

Dear Sir,

I think you should have been prescribed some steroids for relief and antiallergics. I think you should see your doctor again.

General & Family Physician Dr. Ramesh M.Vachharajani's  Response
Hi,
It seems that this might be due to some poisonous bite giving rise to this problem.
If not given, go for one antibiotic course after consulting ER doctor.
Take antihistamine like Cetrizine or Levo-cetrizine for few days.
Ok and take care.
