HI DOC,MY COUSIN HAD HER CHEST XRAY FOR EMPLOYMENT.HER HEART IS NORMAL AND LUNGS ARE CLEAR AS WELL.HOWEVER THE RESULT ALSO INDICATES THAT THE RIGHT COSTOPHRENIC ANGLE IS BLUNTED WHICH COULD BE DUE TO MILD PLEURAL EFFUSION OR PLEURAL THICKENING. IS SHE FIT TO WORK? TNX
A blunt right costophrenic angle suggests that either there might be some small fluid collection in the chest or there is thickening of the coverings of the lung called pleura.
If there is fluid collection then it must be treated by medications. A pleural thickening if long standing can be ignored. I suggest you get a clinical examination done by a pulmonologist and then if necessary a CT scan chest may be done which will confirm the findings.
Employment can be commented upon only after confirming the condition.
