Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
At What Rates Do The Levels Of Liver Enzymes Change?
At what rate do liver enzymes elevate/normalize? For example, if mine (male, adult, average health) are at normal levels, with no other medical conditions, and then I binge drink over the course of a week while on vacation, how quickly will my enzyme levels rise and fall?
As per my clinical experience, it is the acute condition of ingestion of alcohol which deviates liver enzyme levels to significant levels within 3-5 working days of insult. It takes around a period of 4-6 weeks to revert back to normal. However, if the condition becomes chronic, then certain clinical conditions are there, where the liver enzymes remain chronically elevated persistently.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
