Atopic Dermatitis. On Mometasone Furoate Cream. Is It Safe To Use On Baby?

Hello,

I am Debojit Biswas, from India. I will be grateful to you, if you kindly answer my few queries.

1. Is Mometasone Furoate cream safe to use in Atopic Dermatitis under 2 years of age?

2. Is there any side effects after using this corticosteroid?

3. If yes then how long should I use this cream on my baby (Therapy Duration)?

Hi Biswas,

As you said ,your kid is having atopic dermatitis. You are applying mometasone cream. This molecule is harmless and can be used in in child having age legs then 2 years. Mometasone is potent steroid with less toxicity.There is less chances of side effects. You may use it for long time in your child. But I would advise you more effective drug like tacrolimus or pacrolimus. And I would like to advise to prevent the contacts with house dust,house dust mite,soap, cosmetics,wool clothes, grass...etc. Do not give cows milk to your child. Any treatment you give to your child, but under supervision of dermatologist... I hope you got my answer.
