Atrial Defect Is A Sign Of Heart Failure?

I have got a funny pain on my right shoulders and slightly up on the right on the back of my neck. I was diagnosed with atrial defect this week. am not hypertensive though. could that be part of signs of heart failure? not got any medical help yet, just tests. but am so scared I cant sleep sometimes. feel like the process of getting help is taking forever. The Drs. says they defect has always been there, but I got to know it last week, so is all this pain.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Atrial defect may lead to incomplete filling and raised pressure in veins draining in with consequent congestion. in your case it is right atriumvwhich recieves blood from upper part of right side. maybe some structural defect or weakness of valve or narrowing of jugular vein etc.Consult an cardiologist if it can be managed surgically or conservatively.Get echocardiogram done to know the exact reason.
