Baby Born With Little Amount Of Blood. What Causes This ?

My friends baby girl was born tonight weighing 9.4 lbs but she had very little blood in her body. The doctor has given her a 10% chance of surviving and says she will have severe brain damage . They are testing for brain waves. They live in a small town in Kansas What causes a baby to have no or little blood in the body at birth?

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
No blood in the body after birth is mostly due to hemorrhage during the birth or any hematologic disorder like thalassaemia . There must be other problems associated with it . A complete evaluation of the baby needs to be done to find out the cause.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
