Bad Headache, Pain Behind The Eye. Happened After Wisdom Tooth Extraction. Serious?

Hi, I have a really bad headache I have had it non stop for over 24 hours now, it seems to be on my right side, feels like behind the eye or around the eye. I recently had a wisdom tooth pulled... I was concerned about food getting into the opening so I only ate on my right side, also I took the pain medication for about 3 days. My head hurts really bad now and especially when I eat on my right side. Can you tell me if this sounds serious? And is there anything I can take to relieve the headache?

Hi there, thanks for asking. It could be related to your tooth extraction. If it is really severe and is different with the headaches you usually have, it is good to be checked for some temporo-mandibular joint dislocation. It sometimes happens with wisdom tooth extraction and it can cause severe headache. It should be addressed quickly because delay in the management could make the situation hard. It is preferred to be manipulated in the operation room. if it is realized that your temporo-mandibular joint is OK, it is useful to check for other reasons of the severe headache like temporal arthritis (with checking ESR), etc. I wish you can get rid of this headache soon.
