Bee Sting, Soreness In Whole Hand. Given Prednisone, Iced. When Will It Heal?

My husband had a bee sting on Sunday, which he is allergic to bees and carries a epi pen. He went to the hospital and they put iv and gave him predizone right away. 4 hrs later they took out the iv and it blew up about 2 inches long. They advise to put ice on it when we get home. It now red across his whole hand and sore, he has put more ice on it tonight. Why is it doing this. I have never seen this before.

allergies behave like this if they are severe
it takes time to subside
you can start a short course of steroids
anti allergic tablets and local antiallergic ointment to control the alleries but still it will take 3-5 days
add analgesic sos
also add some light antibiotic to counter any infection if occurs
