Been Stung On Hand. Wrist Is Swollen With Red Blotches. Itchy And Painful. Cure?

I believe I have been bitten/stung on my RIGHT hand, wrist, bicep, LEFT elbow, side of neck & cheek. All are irritating, but not as bad as the wrist. This has swollen extremely badly over the 48hours I have had the red blotches that have led me to believe they are bites. My veins have darkened and my right hand/wrist is tense & painful. What has bitten me and what can I do to get rid of the pain and itching asap?

Hi,
Welcome and thanks for posting your query to Healthcare Magic.

After reading your whole query it appears that you are suffering from "Insect bite hypersensitivity"
This is a common phenomenon occurring after the bite of insects of any nature and even with mosquito too.

Kindly follow the suggestions below:
-Apply over the counter calamine lotion 3-4 times a day.
-You can do cold water compresses to reduce the intensity of itching.
-Do not scratch or rub the skin as it can lead to further aggravation.
-Even if the rash is not reducing then can apply mild topical steroid cream such has "hydrocortisone" or "fluticasone".
-you can take oral anti histamine like loratadine or levocetrizine wiht round the clock painkiller drugs by mouth under medial advise.

Despite above measures if the problem is worse then it is better to consult a dermatologist for best guidance.

Hope these informations will help.
