Hi,
Thanks for the query.
By 7 completed weeks, gestational sac with fetus and fetal heart beat can also be seen.
As the sac is collapsing and as you are having bleeding, the possibility of continuation of pregnancy is somewhat less.
If the fetal heart beat is still there, you may try to stop the process of abortion to some extent.
If your doctor recommends go for progesterone supplementation, beta hcg injections etc.
Possibly this workup may help to some extent.
If bleeding continues the pregnancy may not continue.
In case of absent heart beat better to terminate the pregnancy.
Take care.

OBGYN Dr. Shanti Vennam's  Response
Hi,
A collapsing sac usually indicates a missed pregnancy and is likely to end up in a spontaneous abortion. The pains you are experiencing are most likely due to uterine contraction and the fact that you are also bleeding goes in favor of it. Please see a gynecologist and before coming to a conclusion about the fate of this pregnancy, get a complete evaluation. The loss of viability should be established first with serial serum beta-hCG titres and trans-vaginal sonograms. Hope you find this information useful. Wish you good health.
