Hello, my mother recently passed away and her death diagnosis was Bilateral Pulmonary Consolidation. Can you please explain this in laymen's terms.

Hi.. Pulmonary consolidation is a condition where there is thickening of the walls of the lung cell (alveoli) and fluid accumulation within it.. It most commonly a result of infection, a pnemonia generally.. Bilateral pulmonary consolidation would in simple terms mean a conditon following a severe infection, or following secondary infection due to low immunity state or following a chronic reactive disease..
