Biopsy In Forehead Shows Bowen S Disease. Extended To Dermis. Now Have Annoying Pain Like Stabbing Electrical Shocks, Painful In Surface Contact.
A biopsy from my right forehead has shown Bowen's disease. This has extended deeply into the dermis down multiple hair folicles.
I am experiencing very annoying pain that I would like to relieve before plastic surgery to remove in another 6 weeks.
There are 2 types of pain - nerve sharp stabbing electrical shocks (caused my GP to diagnose as shingles) - the second pain is surface contact. Any facial expression is painful and to touch also very painful. The pain is completely out of balance with what you would class as a minor skin condition, from its appearance.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The character of pain that you have described is suggestive of shigles. Shingles is caused by varicella zoster bacteria. After first contact with the infection, the virus stays latent in the ganglion. Reactivation of the latent virus occurs during periods of low immunity and stress. Management of this condition is required before going for surgery because surgery is also a stress which may precipitate further attack of the infection.
