Bites On The Legs Causing Redness And Swelling. Need To Take Any Injection For Venom?

last week i got 5 bites on my legs, 2 of which were significantly bigger, redder and more swollen. they died down but now this week i have another bite whioch is very swollen itchy hot and red, i havent been outdoors, ive been working every day so no idea where its arisen from. its really distressing me getting thes bites so frequently. what can i do for th ecurrent bite and future prevention? is there any kind of injection against insect venom, or for bad reactions. help please

The swelling and itching is due to release of histamine . Most insect bites release histamine from mast cells, the storage sites of histamine. Anti histamines like Levocetrizine are available OTC and can give symptomatic relief but they are not preventive. Also take some anti inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen to reduce the swelling and pain.

Mast cell stabilizers like Sodium chromoglycate prevent the release of histamine from mast cells. These are preventive and can reduce the swelling and itching. But, find out what is causing them. Since you are not going out doors it could be even due to mosquito bites. Some people are sensitive to it.

In case of high eosinophil count, Di methyl hydrazine for 21 days will be needed.
