Bitten By Cat On Wrist, Deep Puncture Wound, Cleaned, Applied Antibiotic Cream. Medical Care Required?
Yes my cat was being attacked by dog earlier so to save my cats life I grabbed him by his tail, not to be mean but I didn t wanted to stick my hand in between them and risk getting bit. But I startled my cat when I did and he turned and bit me very hard on my wrist , right were it bends. It hurt terrible bad for a while after but seemed to easy off. After it happened and immediately cleaned it and put antibiotic cream on it. It s been almost 4 hours since it happened and my wrist hurts really bad and is really red. I didn t think it was that bad of a bite at 1st because it didn t hardly bleed but i ve read that deep puncture wounds usually don t bleed that much. Should I be concerned about seeking medical treatment?

Thank you for posting your question here, I will try to answer it to the best of my abilities.
From what I can tell you've done the right things so far, you've cleaned the wound and put an antibiotic cream on it.
So unless your pet has some kind of disease you should be okay for now. Actually puncture wounds usually do bleed quite a bit, I am surprised that yours isnt. Anyway take care of the wound for a couple of days and call a health care provider if -
Signs of infection
Signs of loss of function
Signs of decreased blood flow
Pain gets worse.
Symptoms become more severe or more frequent.
So relax and just take care of yourself till then.

Since you have bitten by a pet cat then it should be vaccinated but no risks should be taken in the cat or dog bite case.
So you should be immediately go for Injection T.T. and vaccination for the Rabies i.e. Injection Rabipur.
This vaccine injected as per following schedule:
Day - 0, 3, 7, 14, & 28.
So you should not be delay in starting of vaccination, and full course should be injected despite last 2 doses can be avoided if cat kept under observation for around 10 days, but I recommend 5 injections full course.
If wound is deep then antibiotics, analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs should be started as per guidance of your GP.

hi,
it is better to get course of antibiotic, and take pain killers if it is paining too much.
it is also advised to take anti-rabies vaccine ASAP if cat is not given ARV. as even cats transmit rabies.

Yes, you require to consult your doctor.
You may require Tetanus toxoid and ARV shots as per advice of your doctor.
If there is infection, go for one antibiotic medicine course after consulting your doctor.
apply antibiotic cream locally.
