Hi,
Thank you for the query.
After the removal of teeth blood clot is formed within half an hour which is first stage of healing.
Usually when blood clot is lost it ends up with formation of dry socket which is a delayed healing.
I would advise you to see your dentist immediately get the area irrigated with betadine solution and placement of zinc oxide eugenol pack on the extracted site will help in healing the socket .
This has to be followed by a course of antibiotic and analgesics .
Hope this information helps you.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
The typical dry socket produces a dull pain that doesn't appear until three or four days after the tooth has been extracted.
What MAYBE happened with you is that an external part of clot felt down - considering that you had no pain. Don't try touch or put anything at the site where you removed your tooth, let your body heal. If you try, great chances to get an infection and dry sockets. If you have any problems, better make a checkup at dentist before get something worse!
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
Regards.

hi and welcome ,
Dry socket is a painful condition of jaw seen due to dislodgement of blood clot from extraction socket which exposes the alveolar bone to the oral environment leading to infection.
The condition usually develops 2 to 3 days post extraction and presents with pain, discomfort ,difficulty in opening mouth and sometimes fowl mouth odour due to infection.
To prevent this ,i suggest you to maintain good oral hygine by keeping the area clean.
Use lukewarm saline water or antiseptic mouthwash like chlorhexidine for mouth rinsing .
do no hurt the area or apply tooth brush over it .
If you still find the symptoms of dry socket ,to need to visit a dentist and get the area packed with zinc oxide eugenol dressing which is replaced every 2 or 3 days till symptoms sub side.
take care.

Hello
Welcome to HCM
I would like to tell you that dry socket is a very painful condition that results 3-4 days after extraction due to improper clot formation & delayed healing. It results when you don't take proper precautions. It produces a dull pain & bad smell.
You need to maintain good oral hygiene, avoid smoking & other habits, take proper medications & along with that do betadine gargles.
Still if such symptoms persist then you visit your dentist & go for zinc oxide eugenol dressing regularly.

Take Care

dear friend ,
thanx for sharing your concern,

dry socket is painful condition, post extraction commonly seen with third molars.

the pain is dull aching in its kind , you must visit your dentist once to get the healing socket reexamined.

if it is a case of dry socket then mild irrigation with normal saline and suitable medicament dressing (iodoform )can be given.

if required you will be asked to continue painkiller for few more days.

even if it is not a case of dry socket , a post extraction follow up is always appreciated.
hope it helps.
thanx
