Blood Pressure, Heart Rate High. On Beta Blocker. Having Symptoms Of Shortness Of Breath, Chest Pressure, Heart Pounding
In may 2013 went to the emergency room. Blood pressure 235/110 and heart rate 125. Was already taking micardis. Heart specialist put me on a beta blocker. Lowered blook pressure and heart rates. I am also a diabetic. The beta blocker (25mg) drops my heart rate below 50. My symptoms are shortness of breath, sometimes chest pressure and heart pounding in my head when to low. ringing in ears worse and lightheadness. The symtoms causes aniexty because its worse at night. Was prescribed xanax before bedtime. I work so I an lethargy and tired all the time. The doctor now tells me I need a pace maker because of sick sinus disorder. I think its the beta blocker but can't convince him its the probably. I am not sure what to do. I thought maybe a natural beta blocker might help. I don't like taking medication so it's very difficult taking a drug with this side effects.

Bronchospasm , cough , breathlessness, fatigue , dizziness, lethargy , confusion , nightmares , nausea heart failure.
All these symptoms , you are having , if these symptoms developed after the use of beta blockers than at once discontinue this drug.
As your are going to turn into a heart failure case. Diagnosis can be confirmed by physical as well as clinical examination by another cardiologist.
You didn't mention your age but presuming that your age is around 60 years.
At this age with these symptoms , you need to investigated with EKG & ECHOCARDIOGRAM to isolate the case. I would recommend you visit another cardiologist at the earliest & sort this problem.
