Hello and welcome to HCM,
The results of the complete hemogram suggests an abnormality of red blood cells (RBCs) only.
Rest of the parameters are within normal limits.
The RBCs are showing anisopoikilocytosis with ovalocytes.
Anisopoikilocytosis is the term used when the RBCs are of variable sizes and shapes.
Variation is size and shape of RBCs are seen in anemias.
Presence of ovalocytes is suggestive of
macrocytosis.
Macrocytosis is a condition when RBCs become oval shaped.
Deficiency of vitamin B 12 and folic acid are the most common causes of ovalocytes in blood.
Further tests should be taken to confirm vitamin B 12 and
folic acid deficiency.
Vitamin B 12 levels and folic acid levels should be determined.
The deficiency is corrected by supplements of vitamin B 12 and folic.
Consult your
hematologist for further work up.
Thanks and take care
