Body Pain, Sore Throat, Burning Sensation In Throat, Chest Pain. Treatment Options?

My girlfriend is lying in bed next to me. We were planning on going golfing today but she woke up complaining that her whole body is sore and her throat is also sore. She says that her throat is burning. I don t know what this could be. She was complaining about her chest and throat being sore last night before bed and woke up feeling worse.

Hello,

Thank you for posting to HCM
From your description, your girlfriend might be suffering from throat infection (pharyngitis) and if her chest pain is more retrosternal to epigastric region she might be suffering too from oesophagitis or gastritis. A throat exams and throat swap/culture will need to be done by your doctor to find out the cause of the affection. Most at time pharyngitis is caused by viruses but could also be by bacteria (strep or other). When the symptoms persist for more than a couple of days we most like have a bacterial infection. If your throat is inflammed on examination by your doctor we might thinking of strep infection. Fungi infection too is another possibility but whitish plaques would be noticed on inspection. The body soreness might simply be as a result of the infection.
If diagnosis achieved, antiinflammatory ( steroidal or non-steroidal) plus antibiotics will need to be given to treat the condition.
If oesophagitis or gastritis then proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole plus antibiotics ( if bacterial causes determined) could be indicated.

Hope this helps
