Hi david,
A long list of infection can cause urethral discharge common of them are
1. Gonorrhea
2. Chlamydia
3. Trichomonas
4. Candida
5. Herpes
6. Atypical bacteria
All of them are not always sexually transmitted infection.
Female might be a carrier of many of the listed organism, they may be found as normal inhabitant of their genital parts.
It would be better if you were collect your discharge for" microscopic examination and culture " before starting an antibiotic.
With regards.

there is nothing wrong with your wife.

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Ram Choudhary's  Response
If you are pretty sure that it is gonorrhea- must be proven by microbiological examination then treatment is straight forward with 3rd generation Cephalosporin atibiotics for one week for both husband and wife
