Burp, Discomfort, Carrot Got Struck Further Down Throat. No Pain, Eating And Drinking Normally. Guidance?
I ate a piece of carrot on Monday night and although it did not get stuck in my throat it did get stuck further down. It was painful on Monday night but that passed. However, it is now Friday and I still feel discomfort. No severe pain and I can eat and drink normally. I burp quite a bit, something I never do. I do not want to waste a doctor's time in case it is nothing serious. Any advice?
Hello,
If you swallow some sharp edged food or something irritating ,it can result in injury of inner wall of esophagus causing some ulcertation or just some inflammation.
Since your symptoms have been brought about by consumtion of carrot which is not a sharp edged food, you seem to heve developed some inflammation only.
Such type of injuries are generally minor and self resolving, but they can cause either pain on swallowing or simply some burping for few days.
Just wait for few days,it shall be all right.
Till then avoid spicy and irritating food and alcohol.
You may take some PANTOPROZOLE 40 mg once a day for 7 to 10 days.
Thanks
