CT Scan Due To SOB, Chest Pain And Back Pain Showed Biapical Pleural Scarring. Other Findings Normal. Visit To Pulmonologist Needed?
I am 52 and female non-smoker. I had a CT Scan due to SOB, Chest Pain, Back Pain. Blood work normal. Stress test next week. Should I be concerned about Biapical pleural scarring (see test results below). Should I be seeing pulmonologist instead of cardiologist?? I was told in the ER the CT Scan was all normal. Should I ignore the Biapical pleural scarring?
PROCEDURE: CT ANGIOGRAM OF THE CHEST
COMPARISON: None.
INDICATIONS: eval for chest symptoms
TECHNIQUE: IV contrast-enhanced multislice CT angiography is performed through the pulmonary arterial anatomy. 3D volume renderings are generated.
See the Pulmonologist – in addition to / NOT in stead of the cardiologist! Pleural thickening is very likely to be the result of old infection – one may or may not be aware It may not have any relevance to the present context. The lung specialist may have to do a few more investigations to ascertain and ensure that there is no active problem at the present...
